The Buddy Walk® was established in 1995 by the National Down Syndrome Society to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness. The Nashville Buddy Walk® is a community celebration with games, food, booths, live music, and fellowship designed to promote the understanding and acceptance of people with Down Syndrome.
This year’s walk was held on Nov. 4, 2017 at The Hermitage. DSAMidTN is a community of parents, grandparents, siblings, physicians, educators, professionals, friends, and self-advocates from 41 counties in Middle Tennessee who celebrate and support individuals with Down Syndrome and their families.
For the past eight years, FIHI’s own little miss Kristianna Young, daughter of Derek and Allyson Young, has participated in the walk. This year, three members from her FIHI Girl Scout Cadette Troop 2211, along with leaders Stashia Emmanuel and Brittany Garner joined them. Go Krisitanna!
